Corio Vertue was built in Queenscliff, Victoria, Australia by Gil Albut in 1960. She was made of native materials, mainly Kauri wood on Blue Gum frames, with Red Gum stem and sternposts, and a Teak deck (converted to Plywood deck in 1991). She is owned by Andy Indrans, who bought her in 2003 in Sydney, and then transported her overland to Melborne, where she is currently located.
She has had 8 previous owners, as follows:
1960 Will Heard Geelong, VIC
1971 Alan Buller & Alan Fitzgibbon Reservoir, Vic
1981 Neville Jones Mt Eliza, Vic
1983 Ernest Fawcett Hunters Hill, NSW
1984 Anthony Heawood Frankston, VIC
1988 (?) Lionel Mitchel Uki, WSW
1993 Peter Curtis Palm Beach, NSW
1995 Mark Rejc Castle Cove, NSW
2003 Andy Indrans Malvern East, VIC
She still regularly races with Hasting Yacht Club, performing pretty respectfully given her age. Corio earns her listing because of Andy’s blog, which is gives a lot of information about Corio and her travels under his skippership. You can find the blog at www.indrans.com
I have also found an article from the Classic Yacht Association of Australia which features Corio, which you can find here: CYAA Corio Article.
